Saturday Adventure

Happy Belated May Day to you!  May day (May1st) is Lei day in Hawaii.  Lots of celebrations for Lei Day.

What the heck, you may thinking, am I talking about?!

I spent 11 wonderful years in Hawaii.  I’ve been back in NC now for almost 6.  My children were all born in the islands, so it will always be a special place for us!  More on Hawaii in another post (or 10!).

Saturday, Lei Day, I found myself home with just one child.  Nice :)

The Vietri Outlet is about 1/2 hour from my house, and they were having their bi-annual warehouse sale.  I’ve never been, but glad we went!  Didn’t get a lot, but what we did get, we really like.

Directly across from the warehouse, we saw this sign.

Who knew that one of the first Nascar Tracks from the inaugural 1949 season was this close to us?  You can read more about it HERE.

“Let’s hike the trail Mom”.  Great idea honey!

It was a lovely afternoon for a stroll.  Until I literally almost stepped on this…

My daughter shrieked , “watch out for the SNAKE MOM!” and I jumped back just in time.

(only had my 35mm lens, or would’ve gotten a closer shot of that thing!)

So, we decided to hike just until we got to the edge of the Eno River, and then we’d turn around.  See, you need jeans and boots to hike in the summertime around here!

  1. Great shots but that last one is my favorite. I love the tones, the composition and her pose. Well done!
